Residence Hall Opening Days 2011 Information

Welcome to the Bridgewater State University residential community. The staff in the Office of Residence Life and Housing is anxiously awaiting your arrival on campus. This website will be a great source of information about opening day activities, move in times, and other information, and is always being updated so be sure to check back regularly for updates!

New & Returning Student Move-in Schedule

First Year Resident Students should plan to move in on Sunday, September 4th. The move-in time was e-mailed to each student with their housing assignment. Our assignments staff has arranged it so all residents of a room will move in at the same time.

Parking information: 

Upperclass Resident Students should plan to move in on Monday, September 5th. The move-in time will be e-mailed to each student with their housing assignment. All students should report directly to their residence hall at their assigned move-in time.

Alternate Move-in Days for Upperclass Students

Check in stations will continue to be open on Tuesday, September 6th 10 AM - 3 PM and 7 PM - 11 PM.  Students should report directly to their assigned residence hall to check in.

Early Arrivals

Student who are interested in returning early may register as an early arrival for a $40 per night fee here.

Meningococcal Vaccination Requirement

All Massachusetts residential students are required to have either received a meningitis vaccination or sign a waiver before moving into the residence halls. Students who are not in compliance will not be able to move into the residence halls until they either receive the vaccination or sign a waiver.  If you have any questions about your compliance status, please contact Health Services at 508.531.1252.  More information is available on the Health Services website at www.bridgew.edu/healthservices.

What to Bring

If you have questions about what to bring, see our suggested packing list. Once you have arrived if you find that you have forgotten something or have some last minute purchases to make after seeing your room, there are many local stores in the area to accommodate your needs. We have a list of the closest available as a pdf file here; a hard copy will also be available at check in. There are also many restaurant options for meals that are close to campus. Several campus departments and offices are open for resident students during move-in weekend. Once you have moved in, this is a great time to connect with these offices with your questions or to resolve any problems. For information about their regular office hours, check the department's website or call their office.

Student Personal Property Insurance

The university does not provide personal property insurance for students. If it is not included in the homeowner's policy of a student's parents, the student is advised to purchase personal property insurance. For more information, you may refer to the Student Personal Property Insurance page on our website.

Refrigerator Rentals and Rack Raisers

Refrigerator rentals are available through a company called Rack Raiser. Rack raisers may be purchased through this company as well as other items geared toward on-campus life. You will find all the information you need on their website at www.rackraiser.com.
