Faculty Support and Collaboration

The Office of Second Language Services collaborates with faculty, staff, and administration on issues related to ESL populations.  The Office co-sponsors and organizes workshops and other professional development events to support BSC faculty and staff in their work with linguistically diverse students.  Upon request, the Director meets with faculty to suggest effective classroom strategies that could enhance academic experiences of ESL students.

Dr. Julia Stakhnevich, Director of Second Language Services, is the founding Chair of the ESL Advisory Board, an interdisciplinary committee that brings together faculty, administration, and staff to discuss and propose policies, procedures, programs, and curriculum innovations related to second language issues.  All interested faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to participate.  The Board meets regularly throughout the academic year.  Please contact Julia Stakhnevich at jstakhnevich@bridgew.edu to receive an up-to-date schedule for the upcoming meetings of the ESL Advisory Board.
