Advising Information for Graduate Students

As a graduate student at BSC, it is important that you consult with your academic advisor as to course selection each semester and developing your graduate program planning guide. You may be enrolled in a program that requires you to register for (GRPP-501), a graduate program planning course (1 credit) as part of your minimum credit requirements for your program. (See guidelines fro GRPP-501.)

When meeting with your advisor, both your academic and professional backgrounds and career objectives are considered during the planning and development of a coherent program of graduate study. Once you are accepted into a graduate school program you should register for GRPP-501 and then meet with your advisor.

Once accepted, you will receive a copy of the Graduate Program Proposal Form from the School of Graduate Studies' Welcome Packet. During your first advising session, the advisor and graduate student complete this program form together, mapping out the courses required for completion of the program. The completed GPP Form will serve as your guide throughout your academic program and all graduate students are required to submit this completed form the the School of Graduate Studies when applying to graduate.
