Research Help > Maxwell Library                                                                                                                                           If you are in need of research assistance or literature review for a grant related project, reference librarians are available for research consultation. Institutional Research and Assessment Data > Office of Institutional Research                                                                  This office can provide you with data and statistics regarding all the university's activities, enrollment, faculty, space, assets, etc. Services are generally divided as the name suggests, along the lines of institutional research and institutional assessment, although many activities of the office draw on expertise from both of these areas. In addition, the office is routinely involved in consultation, collaboration, and support. http://www.bridgew.edu/depts/IR/

Institutional Research Activities
Institutional Research (IR) includes the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of core institutional data and examines the integrity of official institutional data to ensure accuracy in all reporting and analyses conducted by the office. Also, IR provides analyses of institutional data to examine complex aspects of the educational process, such as student retention and equity issues.

Institutional Assessment Activities                                                                                                                                Institutional Assessment (IA) supports continuous improvement of programs and services of the University, including studies related to:  Regional and national accreditation; Bridgewater State University program reviews; and Assessment of outcomes from major areas of institutional activity such as the Core Curriculum.  IA also develops and conducts surveys or focus groups of students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and community members when those studies address division-level or University-level concerns.

Consultation, Collaboration, and Support                                                                                                                          Staff members from OIRA provide expertise in analysis, research, and assessment for members of the University community. This includes:                                                                                                                                                                   ▪coordinating the scheduling of all campus-wide surveys
▪assisting in the development of electronic surveys for certain projects
▪participating in committees and task forces so that centrally held data resources are shared in real time with those who are making decisions at every level
▪consulting with faculty members and administrators who need information about the University
▪consulting with departments and divisions to plan assessments in their own areas

Teaching and Learning                                                                                                                                                       The Office of Teaching and Learning is dedicated to providing opportunities for professional development in teaching that enable student learning and build communities of teaching and learning among departments, programs and schools.  http://www.bridgew.edu/TeachingAndLearning/

Center for the Advancement of Research & Teaching (CART)                                                                                                 The mission of the Center for Advancement of Research and Teaching (CART) is to foster the development of scholarship and teaching for faculty and librarians. CART promotes individual, collaborative, and interdisciplinary scholarly and teaching activities and strives to create knowledge that contributes to our local and world communities. Connect Southeastern Massachusetts at BSU
Connect is a partnership of public higher education institutions in southeastern Massachusetts: Bridgewater State University, Bristol Community College, Cape Cod Community College, Massasoit Community College, Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
