FINDING FUNDING

The process of finding external funding is usually a collaborative effort and we are always happy to hear about your ideas to help you find the right funding opportunity.  We highly recommend that you sign-up to receive automated e-mail alerts from various sources and begin searching websites, databases, and the BSU forecast of grants.  In parallel, our office will conduct targeted searches and share them with you for evaluation.

Receive Automated E-mail Alerts Set to Your Criteria

Sign-up to receive automated, monthly e-mail alerts on the most up-to-date grant opportunities precisely targeted to your interests.

Search Websites of Federal, State, and Private Funding Agencies

Search for grant opportunities from a pre-selected list of funding agencies and sign-up to receive agency-specific e-mail alerts.

Search Online Grant Databases

Online databases enable you to create your own searches by entering the parameters of your choice.  Of course, our office is always willing to help you with specific searches.

Visit the Annual Forecast of Recurring Grants

The annual forecast of recurring grants shows only those grant opportunities that are compatible with the BSU culture and strategic initiatives.  Our goal in creating this forecast is to help you plan well in advance of due dates.

Once you have identified a potential fit, ask yourself these questions: 

1.     Are there any limitations or problematic requirements?

2.     Is the funding amount in line with my funding needs?

3.     Are there similarities or differences between my project and past awards?

4.     Are the evaluation criteria compatible with my project goals?

5.     *Would it be beneficial to have the OGSP set-up a telephone call or e-mail to the program officer?

 *Program officers are trained to guide applicants toward the best submission decisions - program type, funding cycle, research, etc.  Program Officers from large agencies like the NSF are also aware of intra-agency factors, such as their division's budget and field-driven submission trends - all of which may be shared overtly or obliquely during discussions with potential applicants.
