GETTING STARTED

Routing Proposals

Gaining Approval to Propose

  • Nearly all funding from grants or sponsored projects are awarded to an institution not to an individual

  • All applications for externally supported projects must be processed through the OGSP via a routing sheet which summarizes your proposal

  • Routing begins 2 weeks prior to the submission date

  • Formal approval typically comes from 8 individuals via a signature: PI, Chair, Dean, Director of OGSP, VP Academic Affairs, Associate VP Finance, VP Administration & Finance, and the President

  • Approval signatures represent BSU's expression of commitment to your project

Tips to Get Your Proposal Approved Quicker:

  • Discuss your project in advance with your Chair, your Dean, and any service centers (e.g., IT, Graduate Office) that might be involved to be sure they agree with the commitments you are proposing

  • Develop the budget in parallel with your narrative and share this with our office early and often

  • Ask us for any assistance you may need - we are here to help you
