This site was developed to orient new directors, coordinator and department heads as they transition to BSC and to their new position. Included in this site is helpful information about services and links to important resources that may help you survive your first few months. To assist you in your transition, the college sponsors a new staff orientation program that all new employee should attend. More information about the orientation program is available on the Human Resources web site.

The site is not intended to be all inclusive but was developed as a starting place to locate important information in one location. Cell Phones

 

 

 

Cell phones are available to staff in support of their job responsibilities. Cell phones are to be used to support the day-to-day operation of the college, emergencies, after hour's coverage, special events, and travel.
In order to purchase a phone and phone service you need to complete a Cell Phone Request form from the Telecommunication Office in Boyden Hall. Formal approval is required by your department head and/or area Vice President.
Not all requests for cell phones are approved.

Central Receiving The Central Receiving and Inventory Management Department is responsible for receiving all equipment and furnishings shipped to the college, the campus inventory, movement of equipment throughout the campus, storage of surplus property, the monitoring of photocopy and fax machines, and the coordination of repairs of office equipment. Children's Center

 

The Center is designed to serve children of students, faculty and staff at Bridgewater State College, but also accepts children from the greater Bridgewater community if space allows.  The center has a maximum capacity of 30 children from ages 2 years 9 months to 6 years.  The program's sliding fee scale is based on family size and income. Community Announcements allows BSC's faculty and staff community to share information. This system reduces campus e-mail traffic by gathering messages and summarizing each day's posts into a single daily email. Conference and Event Services

Commencement Volunteers

 

 

Each year the College has two Commencement ceremonies, one in January and one in May. Student Affairs staff and other college employees are asked to assist during graduation to instruct, assemble, and seat graduates. The Student Affairs Office will be in contact with directors in the Division to help staff the event and recruit additional volunteers from your area.

Connect Card

 

 

The Connect@BSC Card is the official Bridgewater State College identification card.  The Connect Card is a multi-purpose card that can be used for library privileges, building access, as a debit card, and as a meal ticket. Policy revised

By policy, all contracts must be reviewed and, if approved, signed by a specific college officer, depending upon the value of the contract.  

Contracts with a total value of $1,000 -$100,000 need to be reviewed and approved by the Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. 

Contracts from $100,000 to $250,000 need to be reviewed by the Assoc. Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and approved by the President. 

All contract over $250,000 need to be reviewed by the Office of Fiscal Affairs and the President before considered for approval by the college's Board of Trustees.

This also applies to all non-dollar value contracts and agreements that may result in a future financial obligation or gain to the college, including but is not limited to rebates, incentives, complimentary services, or future monetary considerations. Fitness Center & Kelly Gymnasium

 
 

Employees may join the fitness center at the Tinsley Center. If you currently have graduate assistants in your department the funds would be located in your 1200 object code. If you are interested in requesting funds for a graduate assistant you should meet with your supervisor for approval. The School of Graduate Studies oversees the graduate assistant program. The IT support desk is a service provided by the User Support Division providing professional, first-line assistance for faculty, administration, staff and students via telephone, email, appointments, and walk-in support. & Other Software Downloads

The College continues to participate in the Microsoft Campus Agreement.  Under the agreement, full-time faculty and employees who use computers at work have the right to use licensed Microsoft products in their home offices. If you wish to upgrade your home office computer you can contact the Technology Help Desk to sign the Microsoft Campus Agreement form and borrow the software. In addition to the Microsoft Campus Agreement staff can also request anti virus software for their home offices. Orientation sessions are provided by Human resources for all new staff to explore life and resources at Bridgewater State College. A Copy Center located in Tillinghast Hall provides service for all academic, administrative and student organizations on the campusThe Center provides services for offset printing and color copies and works together with the mailroom to produce larger mailings for departmental needs. Procurement Card The College has a procurement card program to compliment the purchasing system. Users are given set limits on their cards and transactions are allocated to the proper cost center via the internet.  For details and an application go to the Purchasing web site.

Professional Development Funds
 
(APA Unit Members)

As a member of the APA union typically the contract allows for additional professional development funds. Please check your current union contract or with your union representative for eligibility requirements and applicable forms. These funds are separate from your departmental budget. Forms are available from the Office of Human Resources.  

 

Professional Travel Form

 

Staff are required to complete a Request for Absence for Professional Travel Form when they are planning off campus trainings, conferences, site visits, etc.
regardless of whether the employees is seeking reimbursement or not.

This form need to be approved by your immediate supervisor, AVP or Vice President. A separate TRAVEL VOUCHER EXPENSE form for reimbursement is required for appropriate expenses not paid for in advance. For Mileage information and meal reimbursement pricing is available on the Fiscal web site under Trust Fund guidelines.

Out -of-State Travel restrictions are in effect for FY'09 and FY'10. Please check with your supervisor for the latest information.

Publicizing Events

 

 

There are many ways to get information out to the campus community. Consider advertising on Cable 7 the BSC cable TV station.  Contact the Office of Institutional Communications  for approval of your Cable 7 advertisement. Staff Evaluations

 

 

 

APA and AFSCME members are evaluated annually, however during the first year AFSCME members are evaluated at 3 months, 5 months and then annually on their anniversary date of employment.  APA members during their first year are evaluated at 5 months and again at one year. After this provisional period APA staff are evaluated annually during the month of January. Copies of the evaluation form are forwarded to department supervisor by the Office of Human Resources . The Student Employment Office is the first stop for information on student employment issues. Web Page Development Development of the BSC web site is the result of an on-going collaboration between Information Providers and the Web Team. Departmental and organizational-level content is created and maintained by each department or organization's staff. The staff members who assume this responsibility are called Information Providers (IPs.) IPs create new web content, update existing content and respond to inquiries to their department's web site.
