Study Abroad Programs
The BSU Study Abroad Office administers programs around the world. Programs
are available during the fall semester, winter session, spring semester, summer
session, or for an entire academic year. Participants can expand upon a current
course of study, focus on learning a foreign language, fulfill major course
requirements, or experiment with various elective requirements.
Program Types top ↑
There is the list of the study abroad programs offered to our students by BSU.
Exchange Programs
Participants pay BSU tuition and fees for the term they will be abroad, in order to take
courses at a foreign institution alongside students from the host
country. Proficiency in the host language may be required, though there are many
universities around the world in which the language of instruction is
English. Students will earn BSU transfer credit for their work. Exchange
programs are available for all majors, though some may be restricted to a
specific department or school. Participants will be responsible for paying for
flights, housing at the host school, books, food, travel, etc. in addition to
BSU tuition tuition and fees.
Faculty-Led Study Tours
BSU Study Tours are short-term travel courses running for 2-3 weeks and are open to all BSU students, non-BSU students and BSU community members. Participants pay a program fee (different fees for BSU and
non-BSU students) which typically includes course credit, accommodation, most
meals, program related excursions, airfare, and other expenses. Primarily
offered during the summer and winter sessions, each faculty directed program
focuses on a certain academic discipline with students earning direct ASU course
credit, and incorporates excursions and field trips to give students the
opportunity to explore and learn about their host country.
Affiliate Study Abroad Provider Programs
Participants
do not pay BSU tuition to participate in these programs offered by foreign
universities or study abroad organizations that have an official agreement with
BSU. Instead students pay (1) $200 registration fee to BSU, (2) affiliate program fee, which includes tuition and may include additional features like accommodation, meals, dedicated on-site staff,
in-country orientations, airport pick-up, insurance, overnight excursions, and
local field trips as part of a comprehensive program package. These programs are
offered for semesters, summer sessions, winter break, and the academic year.
Students participating in partnership and affiliate programs may be taking
courses with students from the host country, or only with other American or
international students. Compare program details and costs carefully because not
all programs include the same features. Students receive transfer credit for
all partnership and affiliate programs.
International Student Teaching Programs
Students participate in an 8 week student
teaching experience at one of our School of education Exchange Partners.
Students pay tuition and fees to BSU and room and board to host institution.
Student normally work Monday thru Friday for the 8 week period and follow the
BSU Student Teaching Schedule.
