On October 24, 2007, BSC students, faculty and staff took part in a full day of activities devoted to understanding sustainable principles and how they are being implemented on our campus. The event was held in the new Dunn Room in the Crimson Hall Complex in the East Campus Commons.
Christina Toner (Chemistry Department) led other BSC Administrative Assistants in an informational session and discussion on what initiatives can be taken to start greening offices right here at BSC.

This Live Webcast was sponsored by the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) This year's presenters were Norm Christopher from Grand Valley State University, Tom Kimmerer from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, and Bill McKibben, author of The End of Nature and Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future.
Visitors also got to enjoy a delicious organic buffet lunch while participating in the live sustainability webcast. The buffet lunch was being co-sponsored with Sodexho. Donations towards the lunch went to BSC Sustainability Center's Student Green Team.

In addition to viewing the sustainability poster session, visitors also learned about the Sustainability Center's Advisory Board Team Initiatives. The teams include Recycling, Food Services, Social Justice and Community Outreach, Faculty and Librarian Development, Political and Economic Development, Education, and Campus Planning and Operations. Not only were visitors able to learn about team goals and initiatives, they could also sign on to get involved! At 2PM, Karen Jason (Director of Facilities, Management, and Planning) lead a tour of Crimson Hall, BSC's new LEED certified "green" dorm.

Along with other CONNECT schools, BSC has recently signed The American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment and appointed a task force to oversee its implementation. Part of this Commitment involves developing a comprehensive plan to achieve climate neutrality. Find out how this will affect our campus. Andy Harris, Executive Assistant to the President and Chair of the Presidents Climate Commitment Task Force, will convene this panel.
