Grants

During the 2012-2013 academic year, the Center for Sustainability will sponsor two types of grants: Teaching with Sustainability Grants and Program Grants. If you have any questions, please contact dleuenberger@bridgew.edu or ryan.labrozzi@bridgew.edu.

BSU Center for Sustainability Teaching with Sustainability Grants 2012-2013

The BSU Center for sustainability awards up to five grants of $200 per semester to support teaching and classroom research activities related to sustainability at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The $200 will go to the faculty member/librarian who will develop a lesson plan, research activity, experiential or service activity, or classroom project that promotes students’ knowledge of sustainability. These grants may support pedagogy related to the teaching of sustainability for classroom or field work, and laboratory, studio or research courses. Preference will be given to activities that are used to support the activities of the Center for Sustainability’s 2012/2013 commitment to our annual sustainability theme “people and labor”, however, submissions tied to any sustainability efforts are encouraged.

Applications must include the following information:

• Name of applicant, department, and title

• Course number, section, and title

• Is the class an online or hybrid course?

• Anticipated enrollment

• Brief description of how the grant will be used, and the relevance to the teaching of sustainability

Reporting

All applicants will be required to submit a final review at the conclusion of the spring semester describing the learning outcomes for lessons and class projects and research findings for relevant projects. A brief summary report will be placed on the CfS webpage.

Please submit all proposals to CfS Coordinator Deniz Zeynep Leuenberger (dleuenberger@bridgew.edu).
