Into
sports? BSU has plenty of ways to get in on the action. A large number of inter-
collegiate and intra- mural athletic programs are open to all students. Each
provides its own level of competitiveness and skill, so you're certain to find
the program that's right for you.
You'll also find a number of recreational sports programs that allow you to become involved to whatever degree you wish. Choose from such activities as aerobics, dance, jogging, weightlifting and more. No matter how you like your sports, there's always a way to play at Bridgewater.
BSU has a strong athletic tradition, which has grown to include 22 intercollegiate varsity sports teams, a full range of intramural athletic programs, and a number of club sports programs.
The Edward C. Swenson Athletic Fields are used by a variety of student athletic teams. The football field is surrounded by a running track and there are also fields for baseball, softball, and soccer. Tennis courts are conveniently located just a short walk from a number of student residence halls and academic facilities.
Alumni Park is a baseball/softball complex situated next to Swenson Athletic Fields. The complex was a project of the BSU Foundation, an alumni organization dedicated to the growth and enrichment of the Bridgewater State University community.
The John J. Kelly Gymnasium (located next to the Science Building) is a great place to unwind after a day's worth of classes. Swim in the Olympic-sized swimming pool, shoot some hoops in one of the two gyms, or lift weights in the weight room. The Human Performance Laboratory, where extensive cardiovascular research is carried on, is also located in this building.
