The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) are standardized, college credit-granting exams maintained by Prometric. A form of prior learning assessment, DSSTs offer students a cost effective, time-saving way to use their knowledge acquired outside of the classroom (perhaps from reading, on-the-job training, or independent study) to accomplish their educational goals.
Over 2,000 colleges and universities recognize the DSST program and award college credit for passing scores. There are 38 DSSTs available in six subject areas (Business, Humanities, Math, Physical Science, Social Sciences, and Technology), covering material taught in both lower- and upper-level college courses. Note that we do not offer the Principles of Public Speaking exam at BSU Testing.

Note: The American Council on Education (ACE) has evaluated and recommended college credit for the DSSTs. View ACE recommended minimum scores.
Since all colleges and universities have different policies regarding DSST credit, however, test candidates should confer with their academic advisors prior to scheduling an appointment for a DSST.
DSST are offered six days a week, Monday through Saturday, at any point during our office hours. Reschedule requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to your test time. You can schedule an exam in the following ways:

DSSTs cost $120 each, due when you arrive to take the exam. Certain active-duty military and civilian personnel (and spouses) may test free of charge as part of the DANTES fully-funded test center program. If you need to send your educational institution and official score transcript, the DSST program charges an additional $30 per transcript.
