Fall 2022 Transfer Student Checklist

1. Access your BSU user account

As a new student at BSU, you will receive an email from BSUaccounts@bridgew.edu at the email address used to create your admission account. All information will now be sent to your BSU email. If you have any questions about accessing your account, please contact IT Support at 508-531-2555 or ITSupport@bridgew.edu.

2. Complete your Transfer Beginnings Online Program

It's time for you to dive in and explore Bridgewater State University as a new bear. Transfer Beginnings will assist you in learning more about the BSU campus and will also explore how to register for your courses. Be sure to follow Transfer Beginnings to the very end as you will then be prompted to sign up for your Transfer Advising Workshop. Please click the following the link to access Transfer Beginnings.

If you have questions, please contact Transfer Services at 508-531-2686 or TransferCentral@bridgew.edu.

3. Sign up for your Mandatory Transfer Advising Workshop

All new day transfer students are required to sign up and attend an in-person Transfer Advising Workshop. During this time students will learn about BSU’s academic policies, finalize schedules, and have an advisor review their DegreeWorks. Once you sign up for the Transfer Advising Workshop  , please read your confirmation email for a detailed view of the schedule. As you will see there are certain portions of the event that are optional, so please view which aspects best suit your learning needs. One week before the event, more information will be sent to your new BSU email address. Once you sign up for your workshop, you will receive a registration PIN. Note: If you are unable to attend a workshop due to availability or transportation challenges, you may arrange a phone call or virtual appointment with the Transfer Services department by emailing TransferCentral@bridgew.edu.

4. Register for your courses

Seniors will begin Fall 2022 registration on 4/19/22. The Transfer Beginnings Online Orientation Program  taught you how to register for your courses using the online registration system called InfoBear. If you've registered for your Transfer Advising Workshop, you should now have a registration PIN, which can be found in your Student Profile. Your PIN will allow you to register. The sooner you register for classes, the more options you will have in selecting courses that meet your scheduling needs. Please attempt to register for all your courses prior to any advising session. To view InfoBear, DegreeWorks, and registration videos, please visit our Transfer Services BridgeNet page  . If you have the appropriate Math and English courses and/or SAT scores on file, you will not be required to complete placement testing. For more information regarding placement testing, please visit Placement Testing at BSU.

If you are undecided on your major, please schedule an appointment with Career Services to explore what majors might be a good fit for your interests and career goals.

5. Join a Virtual Major Information Session

Incoming transfers will have the opportunity to connect with faculty representing their respective major during a series of Major Information Sessions held throughout the summer months. During these sessions students will learn more about their curriculum, co-curricular opportunities, and meet peers within their major. View a listing of Virtual Major Information Session dates on our BridgeNet page  .

6. Course Appeals

You may have courses that transferred in as free elective credit(s), which can be found at the bottom of your DegreeWorks Audit. You may be able to appeal these credits to satisfy outstanding core requirements and/or major requirements. If you have questions regarding the appeals process, please contact Transfer Services at 508.531.2686 or TransferCentral@bridgew.edu.

7. Submit all final official college transcripts

If you have not already done so, send all final official transcripts from previously attended institutions to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Accurate placement testing requirements, transfer credit evaluations, and degree audits cannot be determined until these documents have been received and processed. If you took any AP exams in high school, and scored a 3+, please request an official score report be sent directly from CollegeBoard. If you have military credit, please request an official Joint Services Transcript.

8. Financial Aid

BSU has financial aid that will assist you in financing your education. If you plan to apply for financial aid, please complete the 2022-23 FAFSA and be sure to add Bridgewater State University school code 0021830. Please note if you are waiting for your FAFSA to process, please continue your course registration. 9. Submit your BSU Health & Wellness Form

You must have a Student Health and Wellness Form on file with the Office of Health Services within 30 days of registering for classes. Please allow enough time to have your doctor’s signature and appropriate inoculations submitted, if needed. If you wish to waive your health insurance, please opt out by following the steps outlined on the University Health Plan. This waiver will be available after July 1st. Future communication will be issued to you regarding any Fall 2022 COVID-19 Vaccination Attestation responsibilities.
