Subject: BSU to Open as Regional Vaccination Site

Dear BSU community,

We are pleased to announce that BSU has been selected by the state to be a regional COVID-19 vaccination site and will start vaccinating the public beginning Monday, May 10.

The announcement follows Governor Charlie Baker’s plan to shift vaccine supply to regional sites while closing four of the state’s seven mass vaccination sites by the end of June, including Gillette Stadium, which has served the region since the beginning of the year.

BSU has partnered with the towns of Abington, Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Easton, Halifax, Middleboro, Plympton, Raynham and West Bridgewater to ramp up staffing and capacity at the university’s site.

The Kelly Gymnasium on 45 Park Ave. will be the location where nursing staff will have capacity to administer 750 vaccinations a day, five days a week to the public. The Bridgewater collaboration will offer up to an additional 25 percent of vaccine doses for distribution by BSU to members of our campus community and through partner boards of health.

BSU is providing storage and is capable of administering the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Plans are to begin the program with the two-dose Pfizer vaccine next Monday.

In addition, BSU is coordinating registration, traffic control and logistical support on site as well as education on the COVID-19 vaccination to local partners.

This effort has been made possible by many offices across the campus, including the Office of the President, Wellness Center, BSUPD, Information Technology and Operations.  Further, we have been supported in our effort to open a regional vaccination site by Governor Baker and his administration and our regional legislative delegation, including Senator Marc R. Pacheco, Senator Michael Brady and Representative Angelo D’Emilia.

All residents of the commonwealth over age 17 are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. This Friday you will be able to book your appointment at The Bridgewater State University vaccination site using this Bridgewater registration link . Starting Monday, Bridgewater State will be added to the list of vaccine locations that can be found at https://vaxfinder.mass.gov .

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Frazer
