(subject to change as additional information becomes available from official Mass DPH/CDC sources)
The CDC and Massachusetts DPH currently recommend a quarantine period of 14 days. However, based on local circumstances (BSU’s low positive testing rate) and resources (BSU’s access to PCR testing), BSU is able to offer the following option to shorten quarantine as an acceptable and safe alternative:
Quarantine can end after Day 10 with a negative test result on or after day 8 and no symptoms reported during daily monitoring. Individuals are released from quarantine on the 11th day but must continue to self-monitor symptoms for the full 14 days.
With this strategy, inclusive of PCR testing, residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be very low - about 0.3%.
