Bridgewater State University will return to a full slate of sports competition for the Fall 2021 season, including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball.
BSU’s announcement was part of a larger decision by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in which BSU competes. “The MASCAC is extremely excited to make this announcement to return our fall student-athletes back to the field of competition,” said MASCAC Commissioner Angela Baumann. “We will continue to monitor the pandemic and ensure our return to play for the safety of all student-athletes, staff and administrators of our eight institutions and affiliates.”
“Our student athletes represent the best of BSU, exceling both on the field and in the classroom,” said BSU President Frederick W. Clark, Jr. Esq. “We are excited that they can return to a full season of competition and we can return to cheering them on. I wish to commend our Director of Athletics, Dr. Marybeth Lamb, and athletic directors across the conference for finding a path forward for our student athletes to safely compete.”
