Special Academic Programs
We believe that learning is a lifelong journey, not limited to the classroom, and many of our courses and academic activities incorporate elements of hands-on education, community service and real-world experience. Our goal is to encourage students to be engaged citizens and independent thinkers, capable of applying their knowledge and skills to the situations they encounter in their careers and in life.
The Children’s Physical Developmental Clinic (CPDC) welcomes all children from ages 18 months to 18 years. Our students who volunteer as clinicians look forward to sharing in the physical, motor, aquatic and emotional development of youth. Through providing a safe, nurturing environment, children grow to their highest potential in our nationally recognized program.
The Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Initiative is a fully-inclusive postsecondary program for young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Students in the BSU ICEI program share the same experiences as their college-aged peers in the areas of academics, socialization, career development, and independent living.
At Bridgewater, we believe internships help you confirm your major, establish work history and apply your classroom knowledge to real-world situations. With our paid internship program, our students have found full-time employment opportunities and gained valuable career-based learning. In today’s job market, our dynamic internships give students a competitive edge for success.
The Honors Program invites highly motivated students to join their peers and distinguished professors in making the most of their undergraduate experience. By enriching the entire university community with this program, students maximize their critical thinking, scholarship, and research skills. You may apply to the program as an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student.
Service learning is a teaching methodology that helps students gain a deeper understanding of course objectives, acquire new knowledge, and engage in civic activity. As academic learning is applied to real-life situations, students develop into socially responsible professionals. We work to connect the campus, classroom and community through our transformative partnerships.
Bridgewater State University offers more than 75 programs in 35 countries all over the world. You can absorb a new culture and learn a new language – for a summer, winter, semester, or year. Best of all, you can take your studies abroad to the destination of your choice and still graduate on time.
Our Undergraduate Research program gives students the chance to work with expert faculty mentors as they pursue scholarly research. This research, which requires discipline and organization, helps propel you forward into graduate school or find your first job.
