Dr. Bittner’s work explores moments of everyday literacy within the context of childhood. With foundations in ethnography and early childhood education, he works to better understand how young children engage with the world around them through all their senses. Dr. Bittner maintains a deep belief that a child’s perspective has a great deal to teach us about the world. His research attempts to highlight small moments of interaction that speak to the power and capabilities of young children. Dr. Bittner has authored work related to ethnographic research within education, play as meaning making, and the intersections of critical literacies and human rights education.
