Students seeking health and physical education initial teacher licensure in Massachusetts can select either our PreK–8 or grades 5–12 program. Interested in an advanced degree? BSU’s master's degree in physical education allows you to pick a focus that best fits your talents and goals, from our Applied Kinesiology concentration to Human Performance and Health Fitness to Professional Tennis Management, which is also offered as a graduate certificate. Our kinesiology concentration is endorsed by the Department of Education for Physical Education, ensuring you do not need to seek D.O.E. approval upon graduation with your master’s degree in physical education and initial licensure.

Finish strong with a completion scholarship

Physical education graduate students who maintain a 3.3 GPA may be eligible for BSU’s Nunckatessett Graduate Scholarship, a tuition scholarship of $3,000 to be applied toward the last two courses needed to complete a graduate degree.

Careers in Health and Physical Education

Our main goal in the physical education master’s program at BSU is for you to leave ready to take on a leadership role in a variety of settings, from health care systems to community organizations. Our graduates with an advanced health and physical education degree have gone on to work in top positions in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, as well as with the YMCA/YWCA and Girls and Boys Clubs. We can also help you prepare for employment at fitness clubs, businesses, camps and schools in the role of a teacher, coach or administrative leader.

Our professional tennis management MS and graduate certificate prepare you for many jobs beyond the court, in roles such as tennis facilities manager, sales representative and event coordinator, to name a few. From our coaching education concentration to the adapted physical education and sport track, a master’s in physical education will enhance your undergraduate preparation through advanced study, so you can hit the target of your next career goal. Some job titles BSU alumni with a master’s in physical education have held include:
