Dr. Sheila Witherspoon

Sheila Witherspoon received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of South Carolina. She joins the Bridgewater State University Department of Counselor Education as assistant professor and program coordinator for school counseling. She will teach our graduate students in Legal and Ethical Issues for School Counselors (CNSC 515), Applied School Counseling (CNSC 524), Consultation and Collaboration for School Counselors (CNSC 526) and Introduction to Career Counseling (CNGC 539). Her scholarship agenda focuses on a variety of related issues: urban school counseling and school counselor advocacy; minority pipeline programs and career development of African Americans; and online doctoral learners of color at proprietary institutions. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time "down the shore" and traveling.
