Update to Admissions Requirements

A composite score of 290 or greater on the quantitative and verbal parts of the GRE General Test is no longer an admissions requirement for the History MAT program. 

Program of Study for Master’s in History (MAT)

The geographic and chronological focus of the history electives at BSU are diverse. Students may take a class on the American Civil War one semester and Apartheid South Africa the next.

BSU’s master’s degree in history (MAT) leads to a professional teaching license in Massachusetts. Some of our graduates also go on to pursue educational leadership and doctorate degrees.

Over the past 10 years, BSU students have had a


success rate in exit examinations on the first or second try.

Graduate Funding Opportunities

The College of Graduate Studies provides various opportunities for graduate students to receive funding while working towards their degrees. Appointments are competitive and are determined by undergraduate and/or graduate grade point averages, pertinent experience, educational preparation and interviews.
