A popular British politician's quest to return to Parliament is on the verge of being derailed by her daughter’s social media history. Your mission is to find out who accessed the campaign's sensitive data, how it was compromised, and then consult with the campaign manager to limit the potential political damage. Get ready for an action-packed superhero journey where you’ll master powerful tools like authentication, firewalls, and anti-malware to protect the digital world. Suit up, defend the Academy, and save the Cyber Galaxy! This module is designed for middle school students.

In the “Game On! The Cybersecurity Challenge” module, we strive to provide interesting labs for your students that they will find exciting and informative. Our typical session will involve exposing the students to tools used by professionals to defend computer networks. In this module, students will learn about cybersecurity concepts, with a focus on credential harvesting and key logging. They will learn how attacks are carried out, and explore ways to protect against them. Focus will be placed on ethics, social and economic implications associated with malicious hacking, collaboration and communication. The instructor will reach out to you before your visit to discuss the various options for the labs.
In the “The Internet Never Forgets” module, students will review tools that can be used to expose information that people may intentionally or inadvertently post on the internet, and how this information can be used against them. The module will demonstrate clearly that the internet doesn’t forget, and information posted will live forever, no matter how much someone thinks it can be deleted. By using digital forensics, students will be able to better understand the benefits and the dangers of an online world.
In “Guardians of the Cyber Galaxy,” students will identify common cybersecurity threats such as malware, phishing, and viruses, and explain how these threats can harm devices and networks. They will demonstrate the use of security tools, including authentication methods, firewalls, and anti-malware software, to safeguard digital environments and prevent unauthorized access. They will assess the weaknesses in digital systems and propose strategies to improve cybersecurity by using technology tools and adopting better digital habits. Students will also discuss how cyberbullying can be prevented and managed in digital environments. Students will explain the connection between the persistence of data on the Internet, personal online identity, and personal privacy, emphasizing the importance of protecting digital information. They will describe and use safe, appropriate, and responsible practices (netiquette) when participating in online communities, ensuring respectful and ethical digital interactions. Finally, students will differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate content on the Internet, understanding the potential risks of harmful or malicious content.
A maximum of 24 students can participate, and we require a minimum of 12 participants.
Full instruction in the BSU Cyber Range by trained educators is included in your visit. Schools are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the program. In addition, a space for lunch will be provided but students are required to bring their own lunches.
Several of our visiting school groups have successfully secured funding from parent-teacher organizations, collected field trip fees from parents, and even obtained small grants to cover expenses.
Yes, the school is responsible for providing at least one school personnel with each visit.
Class visits take place on Fridays, but we are able to accommodate visits on other days, depending on availability. Please visit our calendar to check availability. If a Friday is not available, it will appear as busy. If are are requesting a day other than a Friday, please contact us at casebsu@gmail.com to discuss options.
