Prerequisite: SPED 570 with a minimum grade of "B" This course covers behavior-change procedures including procedures to treat challenging behavior and skill acquisition programs. Interventions for challenging behavior are presented according to identified or hypothesized function of the problem behavior. Skill acquisition procedures cover a variety of common areas targeted by behavior analysts working with individuals with ASD, including errorless teaching procedures, chaining, task analysis, self-management, matching-to-sample, discrete trial instruction, naturalistic procedures and collaboration with other professionals. Recent research and advancements in interventions commonly used in behavior analysis will be reviewed. Issues related to equity, inclusion and diversity will be addressed throughout the course. This course is part of the educational qualifications required to sit for the behavior analysis certification examination, specially 45 hours of behavior change procedures; selecting and implementing interventions. Offered fall, spring, summer.
