The Bible as Literature

Prerequisite: ENGL 102 Various portions of both the Hebrew and Christian Bible will be studied with the primary focus on the literary forms and conventions of Biblical writing. Attention will be given to the various forms of narration within the Bible in order to attain an understanding of how the various styles and genres of Biblical writing function. Significant time will be devoted to studying responses to the Bible - literary, theoretical, philosophical and artistic. Offered annually.
