Prerequisites: BIOL 121; and BIOL 314 or PHIL 205; and PHIL 260 or PHIL 261; or consent of the bioethics minor coordinator This is the capstone course for the Bioethics Minor. Through reading, discussion and guest lectures, the seminar will engage students with current topics in bioethics, and focus on interdisciplinary approaches to analyzing policies, cases and problems in bioethics, culminating in original student research. Some topics may include: AI in the medical field; difficult interactions; ethics of medical research; genetic counseling and genetic testing; medical care in pandemics; global bioethics; ethics in mental health care; reproductive health. Offered annually.
