Prerequisite: CHST 203 with a minimum grade of "C"; or consent of instructor. With approval, a second major's research methods course may be substituted. In this course students explore research methods used in childhood studies. Students will distinguish qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques such as surveys, experiments, single subject designs, observation, interviewing and text data analysis. Additionally, students will examine the ethical issues involved in research, explain the characteristics of high-quality research, critically analyze literature and evaluate research methods. Offered fall and spring semesters.
