Prerequisite: EDLE 504 This course is designed to provide students an overview of crisis management and prevention in higher education. When a campus crisis occurs, institutional leaders are expected to respond and direct the process of recovery. Crises are inevitable in organizations and the focus of the course will be on the planning, prevention, response and recovery that college and university leaders can undertake. Natural disasters, sexual harassment charges, psychological acts, criminal offenses, facility crisis, environmental and health related issues and many other situations present themselves without warning and leaders need to be prepared to take charge to protect students and staff. The course is intended to introduce students to the field of crisis management and prevention and prepare students to develop an effective crisis communication plan for a range of stakeholder audiences. Offered annually.
