Dance History

This course will investigate the development of western theatrical dance from Ancient Greece to contemporary American choreographers. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the rich history of dance in its social, political and historical context. This course will focus on the development of western theatrical dance through an exploration of prominent individuals, artistic trends and the continuing development of dance technique.
