Prerequisite: ENGL 102 This course will focus on the history of language and writing in early Celtic and Irish cultures from the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age to the diaspora of the Celtic world in the British Isles. The course will also explore the historical and political construction of the concept of the "the Celts." Primary texts might include translations to English of Early Irish Myths and Sagas, Tales of the Elders of Ireland, and The Tain, among others. Offered alternate years. (CGCL;CWRT)
