Prerequisite: Health Science major or consent of instructor This course will prepare the student to appropriately respond to emergency medical situations. Students will learn the necessary skills to provide immediate care to patients experiencing medical illness and/or orthopedic trauma. Students will be taught the skills required for certification in emergency medical response through the American Red Cross. Obtaining certification is optional. To obtain certification, students must pass all written and practical examinations with a grade of 80% or higher and pay an additional fee to the American Red Cross. Offered fall and spring semester.
