English Romantic Poets

Prerequisite: ENGL 203 and ENGL 223 The course examines selected poetry and prose of writers such as Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley and Keats with the principal objective of understanding the character and modes of expression of each poet's imaginative vision. Consideration is given to historical background and to developments in philosophy and aesthetic theory which have a direct bearing on Romantic poetry.
