Environmental Regulations

Students in this course learn how environmental laws emerged from social movements in the United States, and how they are implemented through regulations at the federal and state levels. Emphasis is on the details of implementing the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resources Conservation and Recovery Act and Superfund, with respect to manufacturing, transportation, finance and real estate. This allows for detailed discussion of such innovations as the use of alternative penalties to promote green technologies and the use of existing or proposed law to promote human resilience to climate change.
