This course focuses on remote sensing techniques and their applications in environmental research. The main topics include principles of electromagnetic radiation, image acquisition, processing and analysis of multispectral, hyperspectral, thermal and LiDAR data collected from satellite, airborne and ground-based remote sensing platforms. Remote sensing techniques in this course are applied to address topics in agriculture, ecology, hydrology and geology. The course blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience using image processing software in the computer lab. Offered fall semester. (Formerly GEOG 214)
