Prerequisite: SPED 570 with a minimum grade of "B" This course prepares students to engage in ethical and professional practices as behavior analysts. Students will learn how to adhere to the BACB’s Code of Ethics, how to interpret the Code of Ethics and evaluate their own behavior and others to determine if an ethical violation occurred, and how to respond to ethical violations and dilemmas. Considerations for applying the core principles to guide their work and the use of ethical decision making will be reviewed. Students will practice analyzing ethical scenarios and provide potential solutions, based on the Code, while considering functional and contextual variables. Students will also apply the code within the context of specific situations and consider variables related to diversity and equity. This course provides 45 credit hours in Ethics toward educational qualifications required to sit for the behavior analysis certification (BACB) examination. Offered fall, spring, summer.
