The focus of this seminar is the family, crime and violence. This course will explore the role of the family in crime and violence, including how the family is affected by crime, violence and criminal justice policy in the U.S. Specifically, topics to be covered include: theories of crime that include parenting and the family, corporal punishment, issues of family violence, effects of incarceration on families, CJ policy effects on the family and family based crime prevention. Offered annually.
