The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the range of research on American political institutions and processes. Students will examine the constitutional underpinnings of American government, the role of political parties, interest groups and the media in the system. Students will also explore the changing character of political institutions: the presidency, Congress and the courts. Offered fall and spring semester.
