Prerequisite: MATH 180 with a minimum grade of "C-" MATH 202 with a minimum grade of "C-"; and MATH 252 with a minimum grade of "C-" or MATH 261 with a minimum grade of "C-" This course introduces real analysis through the rigorous study of sequences and continuity. Topics include mathematical logic and proof techniques, the set of real numbers, the Completeness Axiom, limits of sequences, monotone and Cauchy sequences, subsequences, open sets, closed sets, compact sets, continuity of functions, the Intermediate Value Theorem and uniform continuity. Offered fall and spring semesters.
