This course provides an introduction to the structure of human language, including the major areas of linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Students will analyze the linguistic complexity in second language acquisition, with special attention to the English language, and explore the application of linguistic principles to language teaching.
