Prerequisite: ECON 420 This course serves as a capstone experience for economics majors. The course is designed to assess the student’s overall understanding of basic economic theory and quantitative reasoning studied in previous economics courses using real-world data. Each student will complete an individual research paper demonstrating the ability to address a research question (topics will vary) by applying theory and presenting empirical evidence to address practical issues in public policy, economics, business, sports, or other social contexts. The students will make an oral presentation of the research project. By designing and completing an independent research project, students will demonstrate their ability to think critically, conduct economic inquiry, and communicate their empirical findings effectively - essential competencies for both professional and academic advancement. Offered spring semester.
