Science in World Around You

In your home, at your school, out on the sidewalk, there at your kitchen table, science is all around you! Come learn about science in the world around us and leave with practical lessons and effective strategies that you can use with your students to engage them in the practices of science. In this course, you will develop your understanding of the science content and practices behind the Massachusetts Science, Technology and Engineering Standards. You will engage in real world, hands-on, learning experiences, tech-rich instructional practices and content study to construct your knowledge of the PK-6 science concepts. Try out citizen science projects, explore natural places, find out how science apps can engage and amaze! What about a class pet? As you learn about ways scientists investigate the world around us, you will also learn about ways to make science fun, engaging and accessible to your wide range of learners. Build your knowledge of science content and practices so you can teach with confidence and open wide the doors of science with your students! Offered spring semester.
