Prerequisite: SCWK 338 with a minimum grade of C, which may be taken concurrently This course is designed to provide students with generalist knowledge, skills, ethical principles and theories used in the application of group work in a range of social work settings. Students will develop skills in how to design, develop and conduct various types of groups working with people from diverse social locations. Students will learn assessment, intervention and evaluation skills for group work that addresses needs, resilience and empowerment of individuals and groups across cultures, generations and communities. Students will learn and practice the skills of effective, culturally competent group work through participation in class exercises and other assignments. Offered fall, spring, summer.
