Spanish Phonetics/Phonology

Prerequisite: LASP 234 or consent of instructor This course provides a comprehensive description of the sound system of Spanish. Special attention is given to the identification of pronunciation problems of non-native speakers, with an emphasis on English pronunciation patterns. Students will be required to study the phonetics terminology and to relate the readings to sample recordings of native speakers. This course is conducted in Spanish. Offered spring semester.
