Prerequisite: Admission to the Professional Education Program This course will introduce the major goals, principles and concepts of multicultural education with an emphasis on its impact on children, school and society. It will explore the cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic factors influencing instruction and personal interactions in schools. This course will offer concepts to assist participants to improve the learning environment and interactions that occur among children from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, their parents, their school and their community. It satisfies Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements for SEI endorsement. Offered fall and spring semesters.
