Prerequisite: PHED 555, which may be taken concurrently This course will provide graduate students a knowledge of the effects of heavy-resistance exercise training protocols on cellular physiology, including musculoskeletal integrity, metabolic capacity and various specific tissue characteristics in the human body. Thus, the course necessarily considers micro anatomical and physiological variation associated with general strength and conditioning programs, bodybuilding, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and the intricate cellular physiology of the science of exercise. Offered fall, spring, summer.
