FullCourseDesc
This course investigates color as a central element in visual art, exploring its physical, optical, and conceptual impacts across two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and digital imaging and time-based media. Students examine how light, texture, material, and scale influence color perception, and how color functions in both static and dynamic compositions. Through rotations in 2D, 3D, and 4D studios, students apply design principles to projects that emphasize the use of color and develop skills with diverse materials, creative processes and digital tools to translate ideas into finished artworks. Co-taught by three faculty members—each specializing in one studio dimension—this course offers an immersive foundation in visual organization, spatial awareness, and creative problem-solving; it is taught in different studio spaces. Offered spring semester.
