This course explores practices in designing and delivering English as a second language (ESL)/English as a foreign language (EFL) instruction to specific groups of English language learners based on their specific purposes for learning English. Students will examine a variety of ESL/EFL teaching and learning contexts and conduct a needs analysis in order to plan a course meeting language learners’ needs. Students will learn about theoretical foundations of English for Specific Purposes and gain practical experience in developing curriculum for a range of occupational, professional and academic ESL/EFL courses. Offered fall and spring semesters.
