This course provides participants with a model for planning and developing integrated adventure education programs that emphasize the development of physical, intellectual and social skills in a safe, supportive and challenging environment. Particular emphasis is placed on the current models of experiential education. The standards of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) will be utilized and practiced. Students will study, reflect on and use the experiential learning model and basic facilitation strategies. The use of low and high challenge course elements will provide a laboratory for practice, exploration and discovery. A two-hour lecture and one-hour laboratory will be conducted weekly over the entire semester. Offered Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
