Professor Hamilton joined the faculty in the Department of Accounting and Finance in Fall 2017 as an Associate Professor, Finance. She has been a full-time academic for more than 20 years, serving as a professor and in administrative roles at various institutions in Massachusetts and the southeastern United States.
At BSU, Professor Hamilton teaches managerial finance, risk management and insurance, and options and futures courses. She is also actively involved on campus, serving on the Office of Teaching and Learning Board and the Academic Policies Committee as well as on departmental and college committees. Professor Hamilton also remains active in research; her research interests align with her teaching interests. She recently published papers in The Exchange and in the Proceedings for the 2018 Academy of Economics and Finance.
Professor Hamilton is committed to seeking opportunities for students in finance in the Greater Boston region. She is currently working with the Boston Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Chapter to match students majoring in Finance with internships and job opportunities in the fields of risk management and insurance. In furthering BSU students' preparation for these positions, her risk management and insurance course was recently approved to allow students to earn one part of the CPCU designation upon completing the course.
