She teaches General Biology I, Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, Biology of Aging, and has brought research into the classroom as a Course-based Research Experience using C. elegans as a model organism. Her research focuses on the role of proteostasis in the aging process and how cell-specific lipid droplets contribute to the overall healthspan and lifespan of an organism. Projects that will be initiated in the Mills lab include defining the role of lipid droplets in aging and targeting disease states with lipid droplet modulation.
