Undergraduate Research
In our department, research isn’t just something you read about, it’s something you do. We believe in conducting research with children and youth, not on them, and that includes our students. From your first semester to your final year, you’ll find opportunities to engage in meaningful research alongside faculty mentors and contribute to the evolving field of Childhood Studies. You have opportunities for:
- Adrian Tinsley Program (ATP): Apply for funded research opportunities and work closely with faculty on original projects.
- Research Assistantships: Collaborate with professors on ongoing studies and gain hands-on experience in the field.
Internships
With the support of faculty and community-based supervisors, internships provide students with the opportunity to apply academic theory and develop professional skills essential for careers working with children and families. Internships are offered in junior or senior year and are carefully curated to align with student interests and professional goals.
Service Learning
Every student engages in a minimum of ten service hours in the community. With the support of faculty and peers, you will apply what you are learning and think critically about systems supporting children based on interdisciplinary coursework.
